Mission
Our Energy Management Team is looking for an Energy Trading Analyst to manage the performance of Neoen’s trading algorithms in real-time markets, reporting to the Software and Market Operations Lead.
The Energy Management team is responsible for overseeing and optimising Neoen’s market-leading portfolio in Australia’s energy markets, continuously improving performance and maintaining compliance with market & contractual constraints. The team is defined by a combination of market expertise, advanced quantitative capabilities and software development skills.
Neoen develops and maintains a suite of software systems to optimise the revenue of its assets across a range of services (energy, frequency regulation and contingency services, network services), while minimising their risk exposure. These systems interact with the energy markets on the east and west coasts of Australia, Neoen’s physical power stations, external customers, forecasting models, and Neoen’s real-time Operations Control Centre in Canberra. Your responsibilities include the following:
- Develop an expert-level understanding of Neoen’s algorithmic trading strategies, AEMO’s dispatch processes (NEM and WEM), and market-facing aspects of Neoen’s physical operations ;
- Perform real-time operation and analysis of Neoen’s dispatch and forecasting algorithms in real-time markets across Australia, alongside Neoen’s Operations Control Centre team ;
- Monitor and report P&L ;
- Perform in-depth analysis of market conditions, constraints and competitor strategies ;
- Develop, analyse, validate and implement new strategies into Neoen’s production algorithms, in collaboration with the Energy Management team ;
- Develop, measure and report quantifiable benchmarks of Neoen’s performance against competitors ;
- Contribute directly to the codebase behind Neoen’s trading algorithms, data pipelines, analysis platforms, AI frameworks and risk management software.
This role offers growth into Neoen’s algorithm development team as you build a deep understanding of our trading systems and the practices we use to develop them.
