Mission

Neoen is developing a large pipeline of new projects in Australia and needs to find a market outcome for its electricity in the form of long-term offtakes. In addition, Neoen is seeking to build its commercial team to develop, market and sell new electricity products or services (including from its fast-growing battery portfolio). Neoen wants to be able to seize opportunities in the electricity market by positioning itself favourably with large electricity consumers and buyers (including retailers).

Your role will be to manage the commercial side of the projects and create opportunities for Neoen. You will work closely with the Energy Management, Finance, Procurement and Operations teams. You will respond to tenders for energy or services organised by consumers, governments or AEMO. You will engage with Neoen’s potential customers (and their advisers) to understand their requirements, increase Neoen customer (and competition) awareness. You will propose and develop new strategies to boost Neoen’s market channels.

Main missions:

  • Find and develop opportunities for long-term bankable electricity contracts
  • Manage and organise Neoen’s tender responses on innovative products 
  • Respond to tenders (such as under the Capacity Investment Scheme)
  • Elaborate compelling commercial offers
  • Negotiate commercial and legal terms of Power Purchase Agreements or similar commercial agreements
  • Create and maintain working relationship with potential electricity buyers 
  • Elaborate strategies to broaden Neoen’s market reach

Key stakeholder relationships:

  • Energy market players (retailers, brokers, traders)
  • Governments
  • Corporates with significant electricity load
  • Neoen teams: Energy management, Development, Finance, Procurement, Construction
  • External legal advisors and consultants

Profile

The candidate will need the following skills and experience to succeed in this role: 

  • Graduate or post graduate degree in business or engineering
  • 5+ year experience in the energy industry with a strong understanding of electricity markets
  • Demonstrated sales and business development skills
  • Strong negotiation capabilities
  • Autonomy: you will be responsible for delivering tenders responses and commercial proposals
  • Strong drive to conclude deals and proactive attitude 
  • Fluent in English
  • On the soft skills side, we are looking for someone:
  1. Proactive, curious with a strong appetite for proposing and exploring new ideas
  2. Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a transversal organization
  3. Rigorous, organized and ready to work on several projects in parallel in a fast running and high skilled environment
