Neoen Australia has a highly experienced team of renewable energy professionals across offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth, and we are looking for an experienced Project Origination Lead to lead the identification, evaluation, and securing of land rights for new renewable energy projects, who is committed to the energy transition and our company values.

Your role

Reporting to the Head of Development, your role will comprise the following objectives:

  • Strategy: identify high-potential development areas based on resource quality, transmission access, market dynamics, and regulatory environment.
  • Negotiate: negotiate and execute option agreements, purchase agreements, and lease arrangements with landowners.
  • Collaborate: work effectively with the State Leads and the development team to ensure the origination strategy is aligned the development strategy for each respective state.
  • Stakeholder engagement: build and maintain relationships with landowners and local communities.

Key tasks include:  

  • Utilize GIS mapping, aerial imagery, and data analytics to identify, screen and evaluate potential project sites;
  • Assess technical feasibility including topography, environmental constraints, interconnection opportunities, and development economics;
  • Coordinate title searches, surveys, and due diligence activities with legal and technical teams
  • Track and report on pipeline metrics, development milestones, and market opportunities;
  • Initiate contact with landowners, establish rapport and build strong relationships;
  • Review and negotiate all land access agreements;
  • Coordinate and liaise with the landowner’s legal advisor and Neoen’s in-house legal team;
  • Provide continued support to projects during the development phase as required.

Profile

The candidate will need the following skills and experience to succeed in this role: 

  • At least five years of experience in the large-scale renewable energy;
  • Knowledge of transmission interconnection processes and market fundamentals 
  • Understanding of environmental permitting and regulatory approval processes
  • Proven track record in identifying and securing new renewable energy projects 
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with landowners
  • Good knowledge of technical software including QGIS.
  • Solid analytical skills, strong adaptability, efficiency.
  • Solid communication skills: capability to establish technical discussions in different cultural environments, ability to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
