Mission
Our Asset Management Department in Europe is looking for an Asset Manager to oversee a portfolio of operating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) assets, in line with Neoen’s strategic direction and in view of maintaining the highest value of the assets thanks to the maximization of their generated revenue and maintaining their operation availability and capability over time. These assets are located in Germany.
Consequently, the Asset Manager will manage all Operation and Maintenance aspects relevant to the assets’ performance, either from their technical, financial and corporate and social responsibility perspective. The Asset Manager is responsible for maximizing the technical availability, safety and financial performance of the assets throughout their operational lifecycle, while ensuring full compliance with contractual, regulatory, and HSE requirements.
The main responsibilities will be the following :
- Supervise the assets, both remotely and on site (regular travel will be required)
- Ensure Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental objectives are achieved
- Maximize production and billing of the BESS to meet or exceed the business plan, monitor the Actuals vs Budget and explain the differences, support on the P&L reporting
- Minimize downtime and maximize efficiency, monitor the assets’ performance through adequate KPIs, ensure that issues are detected and resolved on daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Track and calculate all losses the plants incur on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
- Supervise O&M contractors and external consultants involved in preparation and execution of the Operation and Maintenance activities
- Ensure that the asset is operating in accordance with the contractual obligations of the O&M contractors, ensure maintenance outcomes are achieved while fostering a planned maintenance culture, ensure operations and maintenance performance targets are achieved
- Implement and follow up on corrective action plans
- Monitor the punch list items resulting from the construction works
- Manage the mitigations measures required by the authorities
- Manage the PPA or Tolling contracts
- Manage relationships with stakeholders during the operational lifecycle (marketer, grid operator, O&M Contractor, landowners, lenders, etc...)
- Coordinate and liaise as required with local communities to ensure the continuity of the relations established throughout the asset’s development and construction phases
- Prepare and steer the assets’ budget in close coordination with Neoen’s finance department
- Prepare O&M reporting for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with relevant agreements in place
- Initiate claims against marketers, contractors or manufacturers if necessary
- Declare claims to insurers in case of incident and ensure the adequate follow-up
- Handles any third-party claims
- Support the Development and Procurement departments in the sourcing, negotiation and implementation of O&M solutions with potential Contractors/other parties, before Financial close for future projects
Key Stakeholders relationships
The role of Asset Manager acts as the central interface between internal teams (Operations, Energy Management, Finance, Legal, HSE) and external stakeholders (O&M contractors, aggregators, grid operators, OEMs, insurers, and local authorities).
In order to fulfill his job, the Asset Manager will interact with many players if required, including:

Profile
The candidate will need the following skills and experience to succeed in this role:
- Degree in engineering (process / civil / mechanical / electrical)
- Additional Business / Project management qualification would be a plus
- 5 years of experience as an asset manager, ideally within the renewable energy industry
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems
- Working knowledge on storage assets and associated electrical equipment, auxiliary infrastructure and medium voltage infrastructure
- Working knowledge about Energy Markets and Reserve Markets would be a plus
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Health, Safety & Environment industry standard
- High level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Contract management experience
- Excellent communication and liaison skills with the proven ability to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Effective leadership and supervision skills
- Effective planning and organizational skills
- Effective reporting skills
- Well-developed computer skills and proficiency in MS Office
- Autonomy and willingness to take initiative and responsibility
- Ability to travel to the sites in Germany and occasionally internationally (mostly France)
- Driving license
- Fluent in English and German. French speaking would be a plus
- Based in Germany (Karlsruhe or alternatively Hamburg)
