Mission
We are a fast growing infrastructure platform expanding our footprint across Japan. As our portfolio of development & construction projects and project SPVs continues to grow, we are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of Japan finance operations and help build scalable processes to support the next phase of expansion.
This is a high-impact role with strong visibility to shareholders and senior leadership, offering the opportunity to shape finance infrastructure in a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes across all Japan group entities including project SPVs
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with international and local accounting standards and / or regulatory and taxation requirements
- Strengthen internal accounting policies, controls and systems which support scalable growth
- Support external audits (both local and group)
- Report on financials to shareholders and internal management
- Handle tax filings and coordinate with tax advisors
- Oversee cash flow, liquidity management and controls
- Oversee internal accounting team and / or external provider in preparation of management and statutory accounts
- Prepare regular internal reporting of financial metrics for board level across the operating entities and project SPVs
- Manage relationships with deposit banks
- Implement cashflow projections and financial forecast reporting
- Support board matters including drafting minutes and board / shareholder resolutions
- Monitoring debt drawdown, and compliance with debt covenants and mandatory operational and financial reports
- Oversee various workstreams relating to shareholder reporting (including quarterly board reporting, annual budgets and business plans, funds flows, etc.)
Profile
You will need the following skills/experiences to be successful in this role :
- Japanese native level (JLPT N1)
- English business level
- Minimum 7 years of experience in finance and accounting
- Experience working with multinational teams
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and multi-entity structures
- Experience with Japanese GAAP
- Experience working with institutional investors or financial sponsors
- Ability to manage teams
- Accounting certifications (CPA, Tax Accountant, ACCA, etc.) preferred
