Mission

Neoen Australia

Neoen Australia is the leading renewable energy developer in Australia and has been contributing to Australia’s energy transition for over a decade. Neoen Australia currently has over 4GW of renewable assets in operation or under construction and has invested more than $7 billion in the Australian market. Neoen Australia is uniquely positioned with our capability to develop, construct and operate our renewable energy assets. Neoen Australia is one of the few renewable energy developers to monitor its generating projects through a 24/7 Operations Control Centre (OCC) based in Canberra. Among other things, the OCC gathers data to improve the long-term maintenance of Neoen's generators, hence improving their availability and sustainability. We have built trusted partnerships with government, industry, and local communities, and we are widely recognised for our innovation and delivery track record. The company is a signatory to the Clean Energy Council’s Best Practice Charter and currently contributes over $500,000 in annual community benefit-sharing. Neoen Australia is an active member of the communities we operate in, we understand the needs of the various stakeholders and invest time and resources to meet and exceed their expectations. This has resulted in unparalleled community support, which is a key factor in being able to develop and manage projects on time and within budget.

Neoen Australia has a highly experienced team of renewable energy professionals across offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth, and we are looking for an experienced project manager who is committed to the energy transition and our company values.

Role Purpose

Your role is to lead the end-to-end development of renewable energy projects from initial concept through to notice-to-proceed, managing complex utility-scale solar, wind, or energy storage projects. Key tasks include:

  • Lead early‑stage development of utility‑scale renewable energy projects, from site identification through feasibility and pre‑construction phases.
  • Conduct site feasibility assessments incorporating technical, planning, land use and environmental constraints, including biodiversity, heritage and land sensitivity considerations.
  • Coordinate permitting and approval processes with planning authorities and regulators, including the management of environmental assessments and specialist studies delivered by external consultants.
  • Integrate environmental requirements, mitigation measures and approval conditions into project planning, schedules and risk management frameworks.
  • Engage with landholders, Traditional Owners, local authorities and community stakeholders on project development, land use and environmental impacts.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs (engineering, planning, environmental, grid) to support project design optimisation and responsible development outcomes.
  • Monitor environmental approval conditions and regulatory obligations and ensure ongoing compliance throughout project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular reporting on project progress, risks and environmental considerations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead regular project meetings and provide reporting on project status and milestones.
  • Conduct regular site inspections.
  • Monitor market conditions affecting project economics and timeline, and develop and maintain project financial assumptions.

Profile

The candidate will need the following skills and experience to succeed in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or Environmental Geography.
  • 10+ years of work experience in similar tasks.
  • Advanced proficiency of technical software including QGIS.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management and associated software (Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Solid understanding of environmental permitting, land rights, and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence senior executives and external partners.
  • Financial acumen with experience in project economics and financing structures.
  • Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Critical thinker with capacity to make decisions based on results.

  • Fluent in English. Fluency in French will be appreciated.

About Neoen

Founded in 2008, and owned since April 2025 by Brookfield, Neoen is one of the world’s leading independent producers of exclusively renewable energy, with expertise in power generation – solar and onshore wind power – and storage. Neoen plays an active role in accelerating the energy transition of the countries where it operates by delivering clean, competitively-priced local energy. Neoen is a high-growth company: its capacity in operation or under construction has quadrupled over the last six years and now stands at 8.3 GW. We are aiming to deliver an additional 10 GW by 2030. Neoen operates near close to 200 assets across three continents. Its flagships include Western Downs Green Power Hub in Australia, comprised of the largest solar farm in the country (460 MWp) and Western Downs Battery (212 MW / 424 MWh); Collie Battery (219 MW / 877 MWh) one of the world’s most powerful large-scale storage systems; France’s most powerful solar farm (300 MWp) in Cestas; and Finland’s largest wind farm (404 MW) in Mutkalampi.
