Mission

Our Swedish Development Department is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager with a Grid Expert focus. Reporting to the Managing Director of Sweden, you will lead grid connection activities for wind, solar, battery energy storage and data center projects, from early-stage feasibility and securing grid capacity through pre-construction, construction support and energisation. Working closely with development, engineering, construction and asset management teams, you will define technically robust and commercially viable connection solutions for both electricity generation and consumption. The role has a strong focus on securing grid connections and preparing projects for construction.

The main tasks include:

  • Assess grid capacity, connection options and network constraints to support site selection and feasibility for wind, solar, battery storage and data center projects;
  • Lead grid connection applications, capacity requests and connection studies, managing the process and key milestones with distribution and transmission system operators;
  • Develop and optimise grid connection strategies, including connection points, voltage levels, import and export capacities, phased connections and opportunities for co-location;
  • Scope, commission and review electrical studies, including load flow, short-circuit, power quality, protection coordination and dynamic performance, using specialist consultants where required;
  • Act as the main grid interface with network operators, consultants, equipment suppliers and internal project teams, coordinating technical requirements and delivery responsibilities;
  • Coordinate applicable grid code compliance and support permits, concessions and land rights for connection infrastructure together with development and legal teams;
  • Lead technical and commercial discussions on grid connection offers and agreements, including capacity, costs, delivery schedules and operating restrictions, with support from legal and commercial teams;
  • Lead grid-related pre-construction work, including electrical design reviews, risk assessments, procurement specifications and technical appendices for substations, cables, overhead lines and EPC contracts;
  • Assess data center power requirements with project teams, including demand ramp-up, supply capacity, redundancy, reliability and power quality, and translate them into grid connection requirements;
  • Maintain grid connection budgets, schedules and risk registers, providing connection costs, network tariffs, losses and capacity constraints as inputs to project investment decisions;
  • Support construction, commissioning, compliance testing and energisation, ensuring a clear handover of grid obligations and technical documentation to asset management;
  • Monitor developments in Swedish grid planning, connection processes and technical requirements, sharing expertise and identifying opportunities and risks across the project portfolio.

Profile

The candidate will need the following skills and experience to succeed in this role:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant technical experience;
  • 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in grid connections, power systems or electrical infrastructure, ideally with a network operator, developer, engineering consultancy or EPC contractor; experience in wind, solar, battery storage or large electricity consumers such as data centers;
  • Strong knowledge of Swedish grid connection processes, network operator interfaces and applicable technical requirements, with experience managing connection applications and agreements;
  • Solid understanding of medium- and high-voltage systems, substations, protection and control, power quality and grid compliance; ability to specify and critically review power system studies and electrical designs;
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly and build constructive relationships with network operators and project stakeholders;
  • Integrity, ethical standards and sound judgement;
  • Ability to lead technical workstreams, coordinate specialist consultants and collaborate across development, engineering, construction and commercial teams;
  • Analytical, commercially aware and proactive, with the ability to manage several projects independently and balance technical requirements, costs, risks and delivery timelines;
  • Fluent in Swedish and English;
  • Driving license (frequent travelling will be required).

About Neoen

Founded in 2008, and owned since April 2025 by Brookfield, Neoen is one of the world’s leading independent producers of exclusively renewable energy, with expertise in power generation – solar and onshore wind power – and storage. Neoen plays an active role in accelerating the energy transition of the countries where it operates by delivering clean, competitively-priced local energy. Neoen is a high-growth company: its capacity in operation or under construction has quadrupled over the last six years and now stands at 8.3 GW. We are aiming to deliver an additional 10 GW by 2030. Neoen operates near close to 200 assets across three continents. Its flagships include Western Downs Green Power Hub in Australia, comprised of the largest solar farm in the country (460 MWp) and Western Downs Battery (212 MW / 424 MWh); Collie Battery (219 MW / 877 MWh) one of the world’s most powerful large-scale storage systems; France’s most powerful solar farm (300 MWp) in Cestas; and Finland’s largest wind farm (404 MW) in Mutkalampi.
